Corruption in liberal democracies

Most measures of corruption and governance suggest that liberal democracies such as the UK, the US, Switzerland and Australia have lower levels of corruption than elsewhere in the world. But how accurate is that picture?
Join us on 20 October, 13:00–14:30 UK time, for a GI ACE/CSC webinar with Robert Barrington (Professor of Anti-Corruption Practice, University of Sussex), chaired by Liz Dávid-Barrett (Director, GI ACE Programme & Centre for the Study of Corruption.
They will be joined by discussants Rebecca Dobson Phillips (Assistant Professor in Politics, University of Sussex) and Dominic Martin (former UK Ambassador to the OECD).
Starting with a deep-dive into corruption in the UK, the webinar will explore what corruption looks like in liberal democracies, its prevalence, what advances or prevents a slide into state capture, and what can be done if things start to go wrong.
